We found that elevations in lead V1 conferred an increased risk of CVD for both genders and age groups ( Figure 2 ) and thus, within our subgroup of young men, we found elevations in V1 to be associated with a highly significant increased risk of CVD as evidenced by an HR of 1.85 (95% CI 1.45 to 2.35, P <0.001) for elevations between 100 to 150 μV and an HR of 1.94 (95% CI 1.25 to 3.01, P =0.005) for elevations ≥150 μV compared with a nondeviating ST‐segment (−50 μV to +50 μV).
