The endosteal and periosteal regions of both the loaded and control limbs of the 10, 26 and 78 week old mice had lower mineral:matrix ratio ( Figure 5 ) and crystallinity (with few, marginally significant exceptions: p=0.07 for loaded limbs of 26 week old and p=0.06 for control limbs of 78 week old, for periosteal versus intracortical region comparisons) and higher acid phosphate than the intracortical region.
