The rate of tramadol addiction was reported by US FDA as low and almost seen in patients with previous substance abuses.[ 34 35 36 ] There has been an increasing trend toward the use of tramadol to treat PE with promising results.[ 1 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 ] The main possible two modes of action for treatment of PE are; binding to μ-opioid receptors and weak inhibition of reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin.[ 19 ] In the current study, the aim was to evaluate both the effects and side-effects of oral tramadol HCl in two different (50 and 100 mg) doses versus placebo.
