We first estimated CRH mRNA levels in the central amygdala nucleus at the onset of the spasm-like events (P19) using ISH, and found a borderline significant difference between the rats that experienced CES and the control group (0.12 ± 0.01 and 0.08 ± 0.002, n = 3–4 per group; p = 0.044, Mann–Whitney test; Fig. 4 E). qRT-PCR analyses of dissected amygdalae (n = 8 CES, 7 controls) yielded large variances and no conclusive results.
