Highly significant differences in the expression of MMP genes (-1, -3, -7, -9, -10, -11, -12, and -14) between primary cancers and their metastases were reported and these findings were associated with aggressive tumor behavior, though the prognostic importance of MMP expression in CRC has not been determined yet [ 16 , 33 ].
