While these findings support an interaction between pool exposure and sensitization, caution is warranted when interpreting the results, as the testing for statistical interaction was only borderline significant and as there are inconsistent results on lung epithelium biomarkers and asthma after swimming, also among atopic children [ 13 - 15 , 31 ].
