RSV genomic load was quantified by real-time reverse transcription PCR as the number of amplification cycles needed for a positive PCR test (ie, the threshold cycle [CT] value). CT values provide a semiquantitative measure of viral load, with a highly significant inverse linear relationship between viral load and CT value [ 16 , 31 ].
