It is also considerably significant that antiangiogenic therapy can stimulate the activity of cancer stem-like cells, as it has been reported that the hypoxic condition caused by antiangiogenic therapy for breast cancer can intensify the aggressiveness of tumor-initiating cells. 22 Our data suggests that the decreased numbers of CD4+ and CD8+ cells and the reduced concentration of IL-6 and IL-10 in the tumor might have partially contributed to the slowdown of the natural clearance of the transient tumors after the DC101 treatment.
