Recently, others [ 87 ] have further demonstrated that in non-dividing or growth arrested cells, the unintegrated lentiviral vector DNA can persist and sustain reporter gene expression to a level equivalent to wild type vectors, confirming the possibility that this early transcriptional activity from non-integrated viral DNA could be highly significant in certain cells.
