The lack of a significant difference between cancer proteins and equally often studied random protein sets (as compared to the highly significant difference between cancer proteins and all non-cancer proteins) suggests that previous observations on particular network characteristics of cancer proteins are biased by the differential research interest in disease versus non-disease proteins.
