In oxygenated tumor cells acidosis caused highly significant decreases in LPR (in fmol/cell/min) from 13.6±3.8 to -0.03±0.30 (P = 0.02) and from 1.2±0.3 to -0.6±0.6 (P = 0.01) in FaDu DD and SiHa cells, respectively, suggesting that acidosis minimizes or even reverts the lactate flux ( Fig 5 ).
