highly significantp < 1 × 10 –4
Using the non-synonymous SNP in PTPDC1 as a CW-3 marker, growth curves were compared between heterozygous (n = 98) and homozygous q -steers (n = 165), indicating a highly significant effect of the Q allele on withers height ( p < 1 × 10 –4 ) and body weight ( p < 0.003) during all test periods, while the effect on chest circumference was significant only at day 382 ( p = 0.039) and day 438 ( p = 0.020) ( Fig 5A ).
