The differences between knockdown and mortality of the two washing techniques at washes 15–30 were highly significant at all wash points (p<0.0001). 90% knockdown was maintained up until the 10 th wash for the machine washed clothing, KDW 90 10.0 (95% CI 6.1–13.4) and up until the 6 th wash for the WHO method washed clothing (KDW 90 6.4; 95% CI 5.0–7.7) ( Fig 3 ). 90% mortality was not achieved for any of the treatments and therefore the LW 90 was not calculated.
