Besides the lack of many species in the dataset, we found a highly significant correlation between the number of individuals sampled per species and the number of haplotypes recovered, and between the number of species sampled per genus and the number of known species in Africa, even though the mean, and maximum, K2P distances were not, or less, affected by sample size.
