The results of Spearman's correlation coefficient calculated between the geochemical and biological variables and indices ( Table 5 ) showed highly significant correlation between Chl- a and almost all benthic variables (p < 0.01), positive in the case of silt content of the sediment and negative with all the indices related to diversity or ecological quality.
