Nevertheless, there was a marginally significant interactive effect of herbivory and B . nigra range on B . nigra biomass; while B . nigra plants from the invasive range suffered from herbivory (-8.1%), native -range B . nigra plants produced more biomass under herbivory (+18.3%) irrespective of presence or absence of competitors ( Table 1 ; S2C Fig ).
