While these marginally significant interactions with region only support very tentative conclusions concerning differences between regions, follow-up comparisons suggest that the left precentral gyrus represents heard speech using phonemic or syllabic representations to a greater degree than the left temporal lobe region; simple comparison of the phoneme model shows a marginally significant reduction ( t 16 = 1.926, P = 0.072), as does the equivalent comparison for the CV structure model ( t 16 = 2.068, P = 0.055), whereas neither of the feature models show any change between region (both P > 0.377).
