Horn morphology in males showed a complex pattern of variation with age: total horn length increased, which is not surprising given that each year a new horn increment is grown; but horn circumference decreased whilst our measure of annual horn growth (length of the most recently grown horn increment) varied with age without showing an obvious trend ( Fig. 1 ).
