Hepatic SOD, CAT, GSH, GR and GPx contents were elevated significantly ( p ≤ 0.001) in extract treated animals at 400 mg/kg dose level (Group V) but also showed non-significant to significant ( p ≤ 0.05; p ≤ 0.01; p ≤ 0.001 respectively) elevation in the levels of all the above antioxidant parameters at 100 and 200 mg/kg dose levels (Group III and VI) whereas CCl 4 -intoxicated Group II was shown to have a highly significant ( p ≤ 0.001) decrease in the all above antioxidant contents as compared to normal controls.
