In both groups there was a highly significant positive correlation between the degree of hearing loss and the perception of speech in noise ( Table 3 ), that is, the greater the degree of hearing loss, the greater the S/N ratio, demonstrating worse performance in speech perception when the noise was louder, as already reported in the literature ( 14 ) .
