The results of this study are highly significant clinically for they demonstrate that adenovirus via subconjunctival injection holds great potential for use in both anterior and posterior ocular disorders, especially those requiring short-term therapy, and that it is a safe form of gene therapy which does not cause liver injury or systemic immune activation.
