From 1971 to 2012, overall, a decreasing trend was seen in the number of teeth lost among non-Hispanic whites with diabetes (slope = −0.20, P < .001) and without diabetes (slope = −0.14, P < .001); and among non-Hispanic blacks with (slope = −0.37, P < .001) and without diabetes (slope = −0.27, P < .001) ( Figure 2 ).
