The SYNERGY (Superior Yield of the New strategy of Enoxaparin, Revascularization and GlYcoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors) trial demonstrated a nonsignificant trend of increased TIMI major and GUSTO (Global Utilization of Streptokinase and Tissue Plasminogen Activator for Occluded Coronary Arteries) severe bleeding with enoxaparin compared with UFH, but similar rates of death or myocardial infarction in elderly patients [ 46 ].
