Among the three cross-sectional studies, parenting style was a significant predictor of child BMI in only one, large scale study of 9 year-old children ( n = 1275; Rodenburg et al., 2011 ) and failed to reach significance in the other two smaller studies (Hennessy et al., 2010 ; Taylor et al., 2011 ).
