This is in agreement with earlier studies of the abscission process in Arabidopsis and olive (Cai and Lashbrook, 2008 ; Gil-Amado and Gomez-Jimenez, 2013 ), suggesting that most genes involved in AZ functions are being shared at all stages of the abscission process of various organs, although there might be significant changes in the transcriptional activities at each stage of the abscission process.
