A recent meta-analysis of five retrospective controlled, two prospective non-randomized, and three prospective randomized controlled studies explored the role of pre-operative use of SSAs in improving biochemical cure rate after surgery; the results were consistent with a borderline significant effect (pooled odds ratio [OR] 1.62; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.93–2.82).
