When the relationship between BMI categories and each of smoking history ( X 2 =6.807, p=0.078), blood pressure ( X 2 =5.164, p=0.076) and total cholesterol ( X 2 =6.536, p=0.088) was examined, we found a marginally significant linear relationship across the BMI categories (figures 1b - d ).
