The highly significant differences observed between the proportions of P. falciparum isolates carrying either the three msp - 1 allelic types or the two msp - 2 allelic types from malaria-infected patients compared to arbovirus-malaria co-infected patients, are probably uniquely due to elevated number of sample concerning simple infection compared to co-infection.
