12 There has been an increasing trend toward the use of contoured polyaxial locking plates because the good match between the plate and the distal part of the tibia reduces the prominence and soft tissue trauma. 13 It has been shown that they maximize periarticular fragment fixation, provide a better pullout strength and angular stability around small distal fragments. 14 Despite the theoretical advantages of this type of fixation, scarce information regarding the clinical results of treatment has been published.
