The larval descriptions available were poor in number until the 1960’s and 1970’s, when an increasing trend in the number of publications is observed; this was possibly due to the increased number of scientists specializing in this area, to the increased facilities for cultivating larvae in laboratory conditions, and to the advances in microscope technology ( Rice 1993 ).
