Once completed, the authors observed that, even after correction, the female applicants needed to, on average, be 2.5 times as productive as man for the same competence score, with a worrying trend that the higher impact the applicant, the higher a male applicant’s contributions were scored compared to their female counterpart (an extreme incarnation of the Matilda effect).
