Isotopic composition of contemporary source water The isotopic composition of AP precipitation, including all 57 rain and snow samples, was well explained by a highly significant local meteoric water line (LMWL; δ 2 H as a function of δ 18 O) with a gradient of 7.3, below that of the global meteoric water line (GMWL; δ 2 H = 8δ 18 O + 10) across the measured range of δ 18 O values (−2 to −16 ‰; Fig. 3 ).
