This example illustrates some of the subtleties of interacting rhythms – an oscillation‐mediated interaction (in this case, deep‐layer cells resonating with beta frequency input) may have highly significant downstream effects that are not inherently tied to the oscillation (in this case, the creation of tonic inhibition in superficial layers).
