On-diagonal, above-chance decoding was accompanied by off-diagonal, below-chance accuracy, with consistent and highly significant misclassification of integration and segregation trials during the earlier and later intervals (around 150–300 ms before and after) on the basis of the trained pattern at a given time point ( z cor = −3.3, p < 0.001; training/testing time, +780/500 ms; Figure 4 A).
