Patients could be discharged if they met the following criteria: good mobilization, adequate oral intake for liquids and solids, recovered gastrointestinal transit minimally for passing gas, normal urinary outputs, no wound problems, good pain control with oral medication, absence of fever in the last 48 h, C-reactive protein below 10 mg/L at discharge, and showing a decreasing trend in previous laboratory test.
