Even among the 1223 marginally significant ( p < 1 × 10 −5 ) probes identified by Hannon and colleagues [ 4 ] in the discovery sample (Table S3 in [ 4 ]) there was minimal overlap in differential methylation signal at the probe ( N = 2) or gene ( N = 9 and N = 3, respectively) levels.
