Interestingly, Arctic foxes are restricted to the northern area of the EU and ACs because of their habitat needs, but the golden jackal population seems to have an increasing trend of migrating from eastern EU countries and ACs towards the west, which should be taken into account when considering the potential future spread of E. multilocularis .
