Given that there was a trend toward significance for the Flanker response time cost (incongruent RT−congruent RT), further examination of this result revealed that the carrier group actually exhibited an inverse cost (for example, they performed better on the harder condition of the Flanker task), a result that is inconsistent with design and utility of this task across a wealth of literature. 30 The inclusion of Non-verbal IQ as an additional covariate in the ANCOVA analyses resulted in the same pattern of effects observed above.
