The finding in this study of a majority of patients seeking care at the large psychiatric facility also point to a positive trend towards acceptance of the efficacy of formal psychiatric treatment at large public mental health facilities such as the Pantang psychiatric hospital in Ghana and in other places as an ideal place for initial contact for psychiatric care, especially since some Africans generally do not trust the formal or Western psychiatric services [ 7 , 11 , 25 ].
