16 Recently reported results of an international, randomized, placebo-controlled phase III clinical trial (RATIFY) strikingly demonstrated a highly significant and clinically relevant increase in overall and event-free survival in adults aged 18–60 years with newly diagnosed FLT3 -mutated AML treated with midostaurin in addition to standard chemotherapy. 15 This survival benefit will likely lead to the approval of midostaurin for the treatment of FLT3 -mutated AML in the near future.
