Realizing the clinical implications of raising AEA levels with inhibitors, the last sentence of our paper read: “The development of inhibitors that block the breakdown of anandamide may be significant therapeutically in any of the areas that Δ 9 -tetrahydrocannabinol and anandamide has been shown to play a role, including analgesia, mood, nausea, memory, appetite, sedation, locomotion, glaucoma, and immune function” (Koutek et al., 1994 ).
