Importantly, LCN13 expression studies in this patient cohort revealed a highly significant correlation between Tsc22d4 and Lcn13 mRNA levels ( Supplementary Fig. 6a ), and demonstrated an overall lower expression of LCN13 in diabetic patients as compared with non-diabetic subjects ( Supplementary Fig. 6b ).
