Conclusions In summary, while human salmonellosis has been decreasing since the 1980s in the Netherlands, we report an increasing trend in reptile-associated salmonellosis and a shift towards adulthood in the age groups at risk, a possible reflection of the increased number and variety of reptiles that are nowadays kept as pets.
