In the French study, relative to women reporting the leanest body shapes throughout life, women who consistently reported mid-range or the largest body shapes were at reduced risk of ER+ progesterone-receptor-positive (PR+) postmenopausal breast cancer; women reporting greater body size during adolescence than during adulthood were at similar risk but the effect estimate was not significantly significant [ 20 ].
