A highly significant increase in apoptosis was observed in infected IFX‐treated mice compared to the anti‐mouse TNF‐α‐treated group ( P = 5 × 10 −5 ), suggesting that IFX mediated its effect on cell survival independently of TNF‐α, a conclusion reinforced by the similar effect of human IgG.
