Unfortunately, that particular “cooling cap” did not yield a significant difference between cerebral temperature and bladder temperature (taken as a surrogate for systemic temperature), and there were no differences in mortality or neurologic outcome between the groups.[ 9 ] In 2001, the NABISH I trial identified a possible trend toward improved outcome in patients who were hypothermic at the time of admission when treated with ongoing hypothermia.
