A small trend to a smaller decline in the spine bone mineral density over 10 years in postmenopausal women using opioids, in comparison to non-exposed, was demonstrated (however with a nonsignificant trend towards more fractures) in Danish Osteoporosis Prevention Study (Vestergaard et al. 2012 ).
