There is a definite trend at the moment towards the more extensive use of drugs in cases of tuberculosis, and from the rather wide field I venture to put before you some pharmacological considerations relating to three groups of remedies in which I have been interested from the clinical and experimental aspects, viz. : (a) the barbiturates, used largely in symptomatic treatment as sedatives ; (b) calcium, of renewed importance in the light of recent research ; and (c) gold salts?the latest claimants for the place of the specific anti-tuberculosis remedy.
