None of the genes showed significant interaction with BMI (results not presented); CDKAL1 *BMI and CAPN10 *BMI interactions were significant only at 10 per cent despite BMI showing highly significant association with the phenotype ( P < 0.001).
On the contrary, the two SNPs of IGF2BP2 (rs4402960 and rs1470579) showed marginally significant association ( P = 0.040 and 0.048, respectively), only after adjusting for body mass index (BMI), probably indicating BMI's role as possible confounding factor in masking the protective role of this gene against the manifestation of PCOS.
