There are studies which show an increasing trend of day care adenotonsillectomies performed in the rural settings, provided the patient selection is appropriate.[ 31 ] Anaesthesiologists must be aware that there are higher chances of morbidity associated with this procedure, especially in the rural settings with lack of infrastructure, adequate equipment and support staff.
